Flavors and style:

The Gorza Furmint is clear and taut, with a scent of green apple, pear, and citrus, underscored by delicate herbal notes and a subtle smoky minerality. Fresh, dry, and straightforward on the palate, with precise acidity, a light texture, and a long, mineral finish. A characterful, unadulterated white wine with plenty of tension and clarity.

Terroir and cellar work:

The grapes come from the steep vineyards of the Slovenian Haloze region, a historic Furmint site with barren limestone and marl soils. Gorza works close to nature, with gentle hand-picking, spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts, and minimal intervention in the cellar. The Furmint is aged in stainless steel to preserve its freshness and minerality—unfiltered and only lightly sulfurized, in keeping with an honest, artisanal style.

Fits:

Ideal with grilled fish, seafood, asparagus dishes, goat cheese, or light salads. Also a mineral, clear companion for purist white wine lovers on its own.
