Flavors and style

An elegant, finely structured Blaufränkisch with distinctive aromas of dark berries, cocoa notes, black pepper, and a hint of spicy herbs. On the palate, a fine tannin structure reveals itself, with more tannin than acidity, giving the wine depth. The texture is velvety and full-bodied without being overpowering. The style balances power and finesse—powerful yet absolutely harmonious.

Terroir and cellar work

Ritual 2022 is a single-varietal Blaufränkisch, grown in organically managed vineyards around Svätý Jur in the Little Carpathians region of Slovakia on sandy-granite loam soils. The grapes were hand-harvested, approximately 80% destemmed, and the remainder was co-fermented with stems. Vinification was spontaneous and open, with a maceration period of approximately 21 days. The wine then aged for approximately one year in neutral oak barrels on the full lees. Minimal sulfur was added during bottling – a pure, natural wine.

Fits

A wine with a robust character that pairs well with intense, spicy dishes: grilled lamb, roast with mushrooms, game stew, mature hard cheese, or dark chocolate. It also makes an exciting accompaniment to Mediterranean cuisine with herbs and stews. Ideally served at around 16–18°C, preferably decanted.
