Flavors and style

The 2022 Grüner Veltliner from Loigi Wines presents itself clearly and invigoratingly. The nose combines green apple nuances, citrus freshness, white blossoms, and a subtle hint of pepper. On the palate, it is juicy, energetic, and precise, with lively acidity and a clean finish. An uncomplicated yet familiar character that conveys pure drinking pleasure.

Terroir and cellar work

The grapes come from biodynamically farmed vineyards around Znojmo in South Moravia, on soils with granitic subsoil and loess layers – directly adjacent to Podyjí National Park. Harvesting is done by hand, and the grapes are carefully crushed or stomped with a wooden stomper. Fermentation takes place spontaneously in wooden barrels or directly in large kvevri amphorae, without the addition of pure yeasts. After maceration, the wines mature for a long time on the fine lees, are bottled unfiltered, and only minimally sulfurized before bottling.  

Fits

A fresh classic paired with grilled fish, Asian cuisine with lime or coriander, crisp salads, or grilled vegetables. It's also a delight on its own as a clear, elegant aperitif—direct and lively.
