Flavors and style

Frankovka 2021 is a vibrant red wine made from the indigenous Croatian grape variety Frankovka (Blaufränkisch). Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, cinnamon, and bay leaf unfold on the nose. On the palate, it presents a fine tannin structure, lively acidity, and refreshing minerality. An expressive, fresh, and elegant wine with a harmonious balance between fruit and spice.

Terroir and cellar work

The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards in the Moslavina region of Croatia. The soils are sandy-loam and benefit from a continental climate with hot summers and moderate rainfall. After a three-week maceration period, fermentation takes place in small, open-top stainless steel tanks without temperature control. The wine is aged for nine months in used 500-liter French barriques, without fining or filtration, and with minimal use of sulfur – an authentic, artisanal approach that underscores the character of the terroir.

Ideal with grilled meat, lamb, duck, sausage, spaghetti Bolognese, lasagna, as well as cheese and ham. A versatile accompaniment to hearty dishes with intense flavors.
