Flavors and style
The Concubine Red 2022 opens with cool aromas of sour cherries, wild strawberries, black tea, and a hint of undergrowth. On the palate, it is juicy, fresh, and straightforward, with fine acidity and gentle tannins—not a heavy red, but light-footed, yet with depth. A drinkable natural wine with grip and freshness that retains its character even slightly chilled.
Terroir and cellar work
The grapes come from organically farmed vineyards in Großkarlbach, grown on calcareous clay and loess soils. Hand-picked, spontaneous maceration with brief contact, followed by aging in used oak barrels. The wine remains unfined, unfiltered, and only minimally sulfurized – purist yet precise. A red wine that combines origin, craftsmanship, and lightness.
Fits
Perfect with grilled meat, mushroom dishes, pasta with tomato sauce, or simply with good bread and mature cheese. Served slightly chilled, it's a versatile table wine for convivial evenings—uncomplicated, honest, and with its own unique style.
Contains sulfites.
